The past few weeks have been an absolute blur. I hate worshipping at the altar of busyness, but I have had a pretty full calendar lately. Thankfully, the pause button was hit mid-week when a few friends and I got together to discuss our first book club read.
I’ll be the first to admit, I can be a slow reader. A.) I don’t always have the luxury of time to be intentional about sitting down to read and B.) I have a hard time finding books I like well enough to get all the way through. Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty was quite the page turner!
Sometimes it’s the little lies that turn out to be the most lethal. . . A murder . . . a tragic accident . . . or just parents behaving badly? What’s indisputable is that someone is dead. But who did what?
I listened to this book on the audiobooks.com app using a free trial. It was a 16ish hour listen, and it was a great listen during the monotony of work and driving.
Without giving too much away, the author did a fantastic job at spinning the relationships between the three main characters, their families, and the event at the center of the plot. I couldn’t help but relate to all three of the women, in all their faults and the complications they faced. I have a feeling I’ll be glued to the HBO mini-series once I get a chance to watch the episodes, starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley.
Our next book is All The Light We Cannot See by Anothy Doerr.
