Weekend Brunch at Social

This weekend I met up with my friend Maddeigh for brunch. We live on different ends of the city, so we met in the middle at the Downtown Market for food at Social Kitchen & Bar.

The first thing we did was order Bloody Mary’s. I’ve never actually had one before, so Maddeigh showed me the ropes at the Bloody Mary Bar. They had tons of options for embellishing the vodka and making it into something hearty. I went for their basic mix with a dash of Worcestershire sauce and Siracha, olives, a pickle, and bacon. It was damn tasty.

Our poor waitress had to wait a while for us to order because we were awfully chatty. It’s been a few months since we were able to meet up, and I’m so glad we did.

When we did finally get around to ordering, Maddeigh had a mountain of avocado toast. Seriously. This plate was piled high with avocado and goat cheese!

But looks at this girl. She is a gorgeous human being, inside and out. She jokingly commented on the lighting being terrible for instagramming our plates, and that was when I sheepishly pulled out my DSLR. Her comment felt like permission to be the weirdo I am and take pics out in public. I tend to shy away from being too obvious with my iPhone, so using my massive T5 is paralyzing. I’m so glad I did though.

I ordered chicken and waffles, and they did. not. disappoint. The chicken was  BREADED IN BACON. It was also really moist, and was delicious with the sweetness of the maple syrup.

If you’re ever in town and want to grab brunch, I would recommend Social or any of the other restaurants in DTM.

All my love,
